The new generation of MAN trucks has impressed industry experts and customers with its distinctive design. At the prestigious iF DESIGN AWARDS, the new MAN TGX was recognised for its unique design functionality. The entire new range of trucks also impressed the jury of experts with its selection of materials and colours.

  • The new MAN TGX was awarded the iF DESIGN AWARD 2021 for its outstanding functionality;
  • The new MAN Truck Generation colour and finishing concept won the iF DESIGN AWARD 2021;
  • After winning the Red Dot Award and the Gold Award of the German Design Award, the new MAN Truck Generation continues to collect prestigious awards, winning two iF DESIGN awards.

There were many candidates for the IF DESIGN AWARD 2021: the jury had to select the most worthy candidate from among almost 10,000 works submitted by 52 countries. Despite strong competition, the new generation of MAN trucks convinced a jury of 98 independent, international experts with its conception of materials and colours. Meanwhile, MAN TGX stood out with its exceptional design functionality.

“On the outside, the dynamic design combines progress, tradition and sustainability, and creates a powerful and emotional truck personality with the lion logo. Meanwhile, inside it’s consistently geared to the driver’s need for an intuitive, safe and comfortable workplace and living space, adapted even for long journeys,” says Rudolf Kupitza, the head of MAN truck design explaining the interaction between expressiveness and practicality, creating the undeniably new image for MAN Truck Generation.

“We are very proud of this new award. It’s a great recognition of the creativity and passion of our entire design team. The new trucks are real MAN and lion-strong companions for every driver,” says Göran Nyberg, MAN’s board member for sales and customer solutions, welcoming the victories in the iF DESIGN Awards, the Red Dot Design Awards, and the German Design Awards.

Design focusing on the driver

When designing the new generation of trucks, MAN included more than 700 truck drivers in the development of different types of models, on driving simulators and test tracks, thus integrating their experience into the design of the next generation of trucks.

The workplace is defined by three systems that can be managed independently of each other: the dashboard, a navigation system with a display of up to 12.3 inches, and an innovative MAN SmartSelect control element. In the cabin of long-distance trucks, there is an internal remote-control for managing comfort and entertainment from the relaxation area. Each system has its own specific truck-control logic and at the same time is integrated into a concept of holistic interaction.

High quality and practical materials, ergonomically improved seating and sleeping space, as well as numerous assistance and safety systems. The future-oriented new generation of trucks contributes to simplifying the ever more complex everyday work of the truck driver.
