The transport business was faced with a problem putting a brake on its development: due to the worldwide problems with supply of automotive components, the delivery of new commercial vehicles to buyers has been delayed by lengths of time never seen before, often up to over a year.

Director of UAB Transporto pardavimai, mentions another challenge: buyers of new trucks not only have to wait for many months, but the cost of the trucks themselves is also increasing significantly.

As the delivery time for new trucks and other vehicles has increased, logistics companies have begun to look for solutions. One of them is to use low-mileage transport. Demand for such trucks and other commercial transport has risen not just as a percentage, but by multiples.

Choose from 600 trucks

Since demand in the freight-hauling market also exceeds supply, carriers must quickly find solutions to meet the demand here and now, so they cannot wait over a year for a truck to be manufactured and delivered.

“In these circumstances, carriers are turning to low-mileage trucks that reliable vendors can offer. “It’s true that the range of our assortment has been reduced. If in previous years we had about 3,000 used MAN trucks in the MAN TopUsed network, it’s now 5 times fewer. However, we can meet the needs of buyers who come to us today, very quickly, in good conditions and with guarantees,” says director.

Carriers are looking for solutions with a guarantee

He says that the typical Transporto pardavimai customer is a small or medium-sized carrier, for whom cost optimisation helps to carve out a niche in the transport business. In this context, TopUsed becomes a reliable partner, because a used truck bought from an unfamiliar seller is not guaranteed to provide the lowest operating costs. The truck must be reliable, i.e. not break down, and have a warranty and after-sales service provided by the seller.

Trucks sold by Man TopUsed have a guarantee of up to 6 months for the main components – engine, gearbox, reducer, etc. In addition, trucks and other transport have to pass a strict inspection, during which all defects found are removed, filters, tires, and batteries are replaced, if necessary, and full service is performed. So the vehicle is transferred to the customer fully ready for use and registered with a valid roadworthiness test.

Transporto pardavimai mainly sells used low-mileage trucks, but according to customer demand also offers minibuses, dump trucks, various trucks, buses and other vehicles.

Builds trust by listening to the needs of carriers

“The MAN TopUsed brand is valued by our customers because it is associated with high-quality used equipment that has a guarantee and low mileage. Customer trust is also reflected in the company’s growing sales. This year we have come close to 500 vehicles sold, which amounts to as much as a 20 % market share in our target segment,” the director of Transporto pardavimai says. “It can be said that it’s easy to grow in an active market, but we invest in what creates added value in the long term. Of course, first of all, into the client and into the long-term partnership with the client. We do not have the goal of selling just for today, we aim to sell to the same customer in the future, and that is the foundation for sustainable business growth.”

Director emphasises that other important factors for business growth include development of supply channels and an experienced team. Constant focus on supply channels allows Transporto pardavimai to offer customers a good quality-price ratio and a rich selection, and in the absence of the equipment needed by a customer, it can be found with help from partners in Europe according to a customer’s specific needs.

“The decisions we took in the past are now yielding results, because we can offer trucks right now to our customers, when many European truck sellers have nothing to offer,” says the director of Transporto pardavimai.

For transport companies – a complete set of services

The desire to be the first to offer services in Lithuania that no one else offers helps Transporto pardavimai to grow.

In this way, Transporto pardavimai was the first in the country to offer a buy-back service to leasing customers buying a used truck. After assessing the need, a rental service for used trucks was also introduced, which, during the period when it was difficult for customers to obtain financing for the purchase of trucks, allowed more than 100 trucks to be rented out in just a few months.
